To My Valued
Customers
Due to
the ongoing costs of running this store, I have found it necessary to have
a small handling fee incorporated in the postage charge. In most cases
this will only be $1.00 - $3.00. This change has been completed. Aust Post have recently increased their charges once again. As a result of this we are now slowly increasing most of our postage rates both local and international in line with these changes. Local rates will increase by 50c to $1 on average. For a time there may be similar items which have different postage rates. This just means that one of the items is yet to be updated. Items will be posted at the rate that is in the listing at the time of sale. It will never be altered after a purchase even if too low and we lose money.
When
considering the cost of postage, take into account your valuable time and
the price of your petrol driving around looking for an item when we can
have it delivered to your door, often for less.
Many
buyers are confused by my combined postage policy. This is not
surprising as the eBay wording is very misleading. Basically, I
offer combined postage for $2.20 extra for each additional eligible
different item purchased at the same time. Individual items may or may
not also have an additional charge for extra same items. This is stated
in the individual listings. Exceptions to the $2.20 extra for different
items rule is where combined postage is not allowed because the item is
heavy and/or bulky (ie some road freight items) or where the postage
charge for the extra item is less than $2.20 to start with.
If
buying multiple items, don't pay for one with PayPal before buying the
others or ebay will charge the full rate for each item. Instead, click on the Continue Shopping button and go back to purchase the other items you need. That way the total combined postage should calculate correctly at the end. In cases of
overpayment, I refund the difference. If in doubt that ebay has
calculated correctly, then feel free to ask for a total and I will
check it and alter if necessary.
Note
recent changes to ebay have affected many of my listings removing the
$2.20 combined postage rule. It still applies in these cases, but you may
have to ask me for a total to have it applied. My apologies for any
inconvenience but I simply don't have the time to manually edit over 2500
listings that have been automatically altered overnight by an ebay
change. There are also some items which deliberately do not have combined postage applied. These are usually items which require special large packaging of a certain shape to keep the cost down. When something else is added it then alters the overall size of the packaging in such a way that the postage rate increases dramatically. Examples of this are large dryer elements and long wall mounting brackets.
In
some cases due to eBay &/or PayPal bugs postage may be undercharged in
accordance with the rules stated in the listings. Please don't be
offended if we request the additional amount to be paid. Any amount
requested will never exceed the amounts originally stated in the
listings. This bug mainly seems to happen occasionally with PayPal
payments for multiple items and either the wrong base rate is used or the
additional postage for extra items is ignored. Lately we have been changing items which have free additional postage to $0.01 extra as it seems to be a workaround for this problem.
Express post & Registered post options are now available in nearly all listings. There are a few exceptions in cases where an item is too heavy or bulky to be sent by post. Express post to remote locations such as far north QLD, NT & WA may cost more. This will usually be stated in the listing, but if you are unsure please ask prior to purchasing.
TNT air or road express are also available if required. Please ask for a
quote.
Local pickup is available for anyone in
the Albury/Wodonga area but for items purchased through ebay a small
handling charge of $2.00 - $3.00 still applies to help offset costs. If
you require local pickup please request it after purchasing and a new
total and pickup times and location will be provided to you. We do not
have an outlet in any of the capital cities.
Overnight Express post is not available
to all areas. It is your responsibility to determine if it is an
advantage or not. Remote areas such as NT and WA can benefit greatly from
the use of Express Post as it ensures items go by airfreight where
possible. Other areas such as the south east coast of NSW don't benefit
at all in terms of delivery time. Our lodgement postcode is
2640. If you do want to receive something quickly, DO NOT use PayPal funded from a bank account. PayPal eCheques can take up to 6 working days to clear and we will not post an item until the payment has actually cleared. This can give the impression that we have not posted the item quickly when in fact the fault is with PayPal or your bank.
Our handling time for orders is usually 1 business day. That is the order is invoiced and posted the same day payment is received, or the first business day following if purchased on a weekend or public holiday. We endeavour to get express post items out before the deadline for next day delivery, but depending on the number of items that need to be processed and the size of the item, this is not always possible. Express post satchels will nearly always be posted in time for next day delivery if it is to an area that next day delivery applies. If we are are caught out of stock of an item you will be notified immediately of any likely delays. This situation is very uncommon but due to the number of items listed is unavoidable at times. Other reasons that can affect handling time are holiday periods such as Easter or Xmas, insufficient reference details attached to direct bank deposits, PayPal eCheque clearance times and insufficient or incorrect address details.
I am not responsible for items lost or damaged in the post.
If an item goes
missing, I will do whatever is necessary to obtain a refund from
Australia Post. I keep
detailed records of posting for this reason. If the item is sent
by regular post, this is limited to a maximum of $50.00. Please note
that this process can take some time, particularly for international
orders. 4-5 weeks within Australia & 12-16 weeks international are
not uncommon. Once I secure a refund, then the refund is passed onto
you. If you do not want to accept this responsibility then please use
Registered post. If an item is not received within a reasonable time, you should first enquire at your local post office to see if it is sitting there awaiting collection. For items that have not been received or located within 3 weeks of posting, we will file a missing item claim with Aust Post. Any compensation offered is entirely up to Aust Post. PayPal chargebacks for the full amount paid including the original postage charge for items that have not been received when regular post has been chosen as the payment method are considered to be in breach of the terms and conditions of sale if we are able to supply adequate proof of postage.
Items sent by regular post are not traceable if they go missing. If you
want an item to be traceable, and if you want an item to be insured for
full replacement value then please use Registered post. Express post
although numbered does not allow tracking as it is usually only scanned
at the destination.
I have only had about 8 items go genuinely missing in the
past 4 years.
The most recent change with Aust Post is the introduction of "Do Not Safe Drop" labels. If these labels are not attached to a package or parcel then Aust Post may leave the article at your address in a safe place if you are not home and leave a card in your box telling you where that safe place is. If it then goes missing, they will not accept responsibility. Our experience is that many Aust Post contractors and posties do not leave articles in a safe place and in fact often leave them in full view of anyone walking past. They also often fail to leave cards in the mailbox whether to inform you where the parcel has been left or to inform you that it has been taken back to the post office awaiting collection. Consequently, to ensure parcels are not left unattended we will be affixing the "Do Not Safe Drop" labels to every applicable parcel and if you are not at home you will have to collect it from your post office. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is better than having it stolen and Aust Post accepting no responsibility.
Delivery to NT, WA & far north QLD can take several weeks. Express
post can speed this up considerably. Large or heavy items can be
expensive to these areas. In 99% of listings I have fixed postage costs
Australia wide and yes, we do lose money sending to some
areas.
Please ensure that the postal address provided on eBay is correct. No responsibility is taken for items that are sent to the address provided if that is subsequently discovered to be wrong. Emailing us or messaging us with a different address does not guarantee that it will be noticed prior to the item being posted to the address provided by eBay or PayPal. In the case of PayPal payments we are unable to send to a different address even if notified in time as this leaves us with absolutely no seller protection at all in the eyes of PayPal. In these cases if we receive notification that the address is wrong prior to posting the item, the PayPal payment will be refunded and the postal address will have to be altered when going through checkout the second time. Items that are posted to the correct address as originally supplied will attract additional postage charges if they are returned to us as undelivered and need to be posted to a different address. To ensure quick and accurate postage with no delays, the postal address needs to be correct at the time of checkout.
Despite eBay's recent efforts to make PayPal the only form of payment
allowed, thanks to the ACCC we are still able to offer all of the payment
methods we have offered in the past which includes direct bank transfer,
direct credit card payment including AMEX & Diners, PayMate, bank or personal
cheque & money order.
Bank
details should be provided by ebay after the sale (please ask if they do
not appear). Our postal address will be provided by eBay after purchasing
if you choose to pay by cheque or money order. You can call me on (02)
60562944 during normal office hours to provide your credit card details
for direct credit card payments. Note, these details are not stored for
security reasons, so need to be provided for each purchase
made. Note also, if you choose direct credit card as the method of payment eBay will simply thank you for your payment when checkout is completed. They do not offer any advice that you need to contact us to provide the details. This is misleading to some buyers. We will always send notification in these cases to contact us by telephone and you should also receive an automated email which has this information. Sorry for any confusion, but eBay still seem to make things awkward for anyone that chooses not to use PayPal.
In cases where we offer Local Pickup or Pay on Pickup then all of our normal payment methods are accepted, but if paid by PayPal or personal cheque, then photo ID and a signature are required unless the item is collected by a registered courier. If cash is used, then exact funds must be provided as no change is kept on the premises.
We do
also still accept PayMate for payments even although the links have been
removed from my listings. You can use your credit card to pay securely
online and no registration is required. PayMate is wholly Australian owned and has a similar level of protection for buyers as PayPal, as well as friendly customer support. You can click on the link below
to use PayMate as the payment method. You will have to manually enter the
total amount and the item number. We are now picking up the tab for the
fees so it will not cost you anything extra.
I am
not a large corporation, just one person with one part time assistant. Thank you all for your past
patronage and I hope you will continue to support me in the
future. Thank you also for having the patience to read this far.
