FROM THE DESIGNER

My name is Tony and I make t-shirts I have been for most of my life. It all started in Mrs Rickersleys 3rd grade class. One minute I was cutting out paper stencils and the next minute there was a little red apple on my little yellow t-shirt. Magic!


Hundreds of little red apples later and I set up a business selling t-shirts with more complicated prints on them at Sydney's Paddington Markets.

As the nineties(and my thirties) loomed large, the need for security led me to the spiritual home of the Australian t-shirt: Mambo. Over the following decade, from the "Farting Dog" to the "Great Australian Beer Tree", I gained an understanding of the power of the t-shirt.


The only way I was ever going to fly the Mambo nest would be if a huge multinational company paid my way to New York City Well, my wife's did and we set up home in the biggest apple of them all.

Sometimes you have to go halfway round the world and live in a shoeboxfor a year to realise what it is you are meant to do and where you are meant to do it.
