GEM PARTS AUSTRALIA

Hello and welcome to our ebay store.  Gem Parts Australia is a business specialising in high-performance parts (and new old stock spares) for a wide range of vehicles.  We stock a large range of Weber, Dellorto and Solex carburettors, adaptor plates, rebuild kits, spare parts and accessories to suit many applications. We can custom build and jet a downdraft Weber to suit virtually any engine. We specialise in Weber conversions and can supply a complete bolt-on upgrade package to suit your vehicle.

We carry a large range of  inlet manifolds to suit vehicles from the 1970's and 1980's. These sidedraught & downdraft manifolds have been getting harder to obtain in recent years and we are pleased to be able to offer both new and used manifolds to suit a large range of vehicles.

We are constantly increasing our stocks of manifolds and performance parts to suit Datsun, Escort, Cortina, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Toyota and Gemini amongst many others. We are also expanding our range of extractors, ignition componentry and gauges to suit most vehicles. If you are unable to find the part you need please feel free to email us as only a fraction of our stock is currently listed online. If we can help we are more than happy to list the part in our ebay store for you.

In addition to our performance parts  we continue to maintain one of the largest stocks of Holden/Isuzu Gemini NOS parts in Australia. Thanks for taking the time to browse our ebay store. Please don't hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance.

Australian bidders please note that we are registered for GST. All bids/purchases are GST inclusive - you will NOT be charged any additional fees/tax.

Best Regards

BUYING A USED WEBER - WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Hi we have decided to add a "buyers guide" for people looking to purchase a used Weber carby from ebay or another source. We have been in-undated with requests for help from ebay members that have purchased a Weber thinking that by simply installing a kit the carby would be "as good as new". Unfortunately this is very rarely the case. There are a number of components to a Weber (as with any carb). Although the Webers (particularly the Italian originals) are re-knowned for their reliabilty; age and neglect still can cause problems. Common issues are: seized/damaged shafts, missing linkages, broken pump jet assemblies, damaged floats and severe corrosion. Other problems we have seen go as far as cracked housings and broken float anchorages.

I would urge anyone who is considering purchasing a used Weber to ask the following questions: (1) Is the unit complete. (Inter shaft linkages are VERY hard to source and are expensive) (2) Do the shafts open and close properly (3) Is the carb corroded internally. (4) request photos of top and bottom of the carb. If the seller is not prepared to answer these questions I would strongly recommend not buying the product. We have seen a lot of used Webers sell for $100 - $200 lately. If one of these carbs has even one of the above problems you are likely to end up with a VERY expensive problem on your hands. A carby kit simply replaces aged gaskets and the like. Addressing these other issues is time consuming, labour intensive and expensive - and many times NOT POSSIBLE TO FIX.

We don't like to see anyone get ripped off so please ask as many questions as you can. We are always happy to give advice but at the end of the day some carbs simply are not economically viable to rebuild. Some of the carbs we have seen lately should have been thrown out years ago..

We do not sell any carburettors without rebuilding them first. Any carb we don't consider to be up to standard we scrap.

We are yet to see a Weber not requiring at least some reconditioning to restore it.

I hope this post helps others avoid the pitfalls that can be associated with buying a used carburettor.
