Book Grading Descriptions
Brand New - The book is absolutely brand-new, may have slight shelf wear
New and Unread - Almost perfect. Spine is tight, square, and clean. Book looks virtually like a perfect copy. May have shelf & handling wear e.g crease, scratch, tiny crease etc.
Near Mint - Almost perfect. Has been read gently. Spine is tight, square, and clean. Book looks virtually like a perfect copy. May have slight shelf wear. Excellent - A carefully read copy. Very minor defects. No major signs of wear. Slight spine creases. No major cover creases. Book may have minor edge wear. No writing, tears, maybe faint minor marks. Could have possible slight edge tan.
Very Good - Evidence of slight wear. Book may have slight bends or creases on cover or crease along spine edge. Spine may be bent from reading, May have spine tilt or very minor spine splits may be noticeable on top and bottom of spine (maybe repaired with tape). May have light to medium edge tan. Wear spots, chipping and rubbing, pen markings, possible bookshop stamp etc.
Good - The average used copy due to normal handling. The copy is complete with no pages missing. Book may have multiple spine creases/wrinkling minor tears could be repaired by sticky tape, cover wear, cover damage, edge/tip wear owner’s name, initials, bookstore stamps, may have light to medium page and/or edge tanning. Obvious Spine roll or tilt etc.. Well read but still in good reading order.
Fair - Very heavily read and possibly soiled, heavy page/and or edge tanning, but still complete and readable. Torn covers or pages are likely, as is a rolled spine. Damage from the elements or stains may be evident.
