Before you order a part, check you know to which model year your bike actually belongs. In Australia, the model year is often different to the date shown on the Compliance Plate (located on the steering head)
Many bikes show a build date of (say) 11/07 when in fact they are NOT an 07 bike, but rather an 08 model released prior to the New Year. Yamaha has made it easier, for example, because from 2001 they have included the year just before the 'A' in the VIN # -
All manufacturers sometimes keep the same model running for years with no change - the classic is Suzuki JR's which have been 2004 models since 2004, even if sold yesterday. Another is the Yamaha TT350 which ran from 1992 to 2003+/- and was the same bike!!!!
