Instructions for aligning blades on the Wahl clipper
 |
The sketch shows how the bottom blade holes are larger than the shanks of the blade screws. When the blade screws are loosened the bottom blade can be aligned with the top blade. Keep the screws tight after the blade is aligned. |

1. end of the top blade teeth should be 1/32", 0.79mm to 1.59mm back from the bottom blade. This is important so that the clipper doesn't cut too close or allow the moving cutter to touch the skin.
2. Extreme left hand tooth of top blade must be covering or be to the left of the first small tooth of bottom blade.
3. Extreme right hand tooth of top blade must be touching the big tooth on the bottom blade.
Power Screw
 |
To adjust power, turn the power screw in clockwise direction until you hear a noise. Then slowly turn the power screw out (counter-clockwise) just until the noise stops. This is the maximum power. The clattering when turning the machine on or off is of no consequence; the same for moderate heating and vibration. |
Oil (do not attempt to adjust clipper before oiling)

The blades of your new clipper should be oiled regularly before each cut (and more often depending on usage. If clipping animals, for best perfomance, oil every 5 minutes). Simply place a few drops of oil on the teeth of the blades. Use only the WAHL oil included in the pack (do not use WD40). Due to the high speed of your Wahl Clipper, the correct type of oil must be used. Do not use hair oil, grease or any oil mixed with kerosene or any solvent as the solvent will evaporate and leave the thick oil, slowing down the blades. WAHL Clipper Oil is a very thin, natural oil which will not evaporate and will not slow down the blades.
Notes: If the blade becomes hot with extreme use, stop cutting until the blade cools down. Do not force the clipper through the hair. Allow the clipper to cut at it's own pace to avoid stalling and provide a better cut. (A professional pet clipper such as the KM-2 have a cooling fan).
Storage
Before putting your clipper away, thoroughly clean the blades with the supplied brush and/or a dry cloth then re-oil. Keeping the blades oiled is good practice for many reasons and will ensure good operation in the future. It is best to store your clipper in a dry place in your home (not in the garage or shed).
KM-2 Vs Show Pro Pet clippers

Wahl's ShowPro replaces the Deluxe Pet Clipper Kit.
The ShowPro is a vibrating arm clipper with a higher power rating of 12 watts.
The KM-2 is a much stronger, professional, rotary motor clipper with a power rating of 45 watts and 2 speeds.
The KM-2 will cut faster and has a large range of detachable / snap-on blades available to choose from. The ShowPro blades are screwed on and do not change but has a taper adjustment and guides. If you are only doing one or two pets and time is not an issue the Show Pro is a good performer. If you intend clipping many pets or "styling", the KM-2 with optional attachments would be a better option. The KM-2 is also better suited to fine hair (ie, all hair types).
Another way to compare the difference would be with the analogy of mowing a paddock. A good old fashioned pull-start Victa mower will work slow and steady but may bog down and stall if you go too fast in thick grass. A powerful ride-on mower will not have the same limitations.
The KM-2 is a 2 speed clipper while the KM-SS is a single speed clipper.
I believe the KM-2 is better value.
